DALE: THE UNCANNY VALLEY

ARCH: DALE

Dale i Sunnfjord, Norway

2016- unbuilt

Dale I Sunnfjord is a small village in Norway with vivid culture life, but as every other village in the country, Dale suffers from the migration towards larger centrums.

The proposal aims to revitalize the chosen area from a former small scale industry area to a cluster of event spaces. Behind architecture is an idea to use local oddities, even uncanniness, to make the architectures appetizing, yet nothing to be rejected by Dale community. The proposal studies and gathers the strengths and peculiarities around the village and distills them into this three-piece. As a part of larger reviving plan of dale, these venues strive for strengthening the local indentity, and perhaps put the uncanny Valley  back to map as a tourist attraction. Furthermore the three houses provide  locals places to gather, play and enjoy.
